Canada launches new immigration application tracker for spousal and child sponsorship applications

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has launched an online portal where applicants for sponsorship applications for spouses and dependent children can track their progress without calling IRCC.

The tracker can be accessed on the government portal. This tracker is only for applicants who have applied for family class applications, like spousal, common-law and dependent child sponsorship applications. This portal can be accessed by applicants themselves or their authorized representatives.

The announcement was made about the tracker earlier by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser. He outlined plans of an effort to modernize the Canadian Immigration system, which is currently facing a huge backlog.

“I know that processing delays have been incredibly frustrating for many individuals. Helping clients come to Canada quickly, with predictable processing times and efficient communication with IRCC, remains a top priority for me. Immigration benefits all Canadians—it helps grow our economy and strengthens our communities across the country. Many people are choosing Canada as the place to visit and build their future, and to ensure that we stay competitive, we have introduced concrete measures to make sure those who want to come to Canada have the client experience they deserve.”

– The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship
